On May 28, 1998, Pakistan became a nuclear power when it successfully carried out five nuclear tests at Chaghi, in the province of Baluchistan. This was in direct response to five nuclear explosions by India, just two weeks earlier.
Widely criticized by the international community, Pakistan maintains that its nuclear program is for self-defense, as deterrence against nuclear India. A former Prime Minister of Pakistan, Zulfiqar Ali Bhutto, offered justification for Pakistan’s nuclear program when he said that if India were to produce a bomb, Pakistan would do anything it could to get one of its own. It has always been maintained by Pakistan that a nuclear threat posed to its security can neither be met with conventional means of defense, nor by external security guarantees.

Gasherbrum II (also known as K4) is the highest mountain on Earth 13, straddles the border between Pakistan and China. Gasherbrum II is the third highest peak of the Gasherbrum massif, located in the Karakoram mountains of the Himalayas.
The normal route is via the SW ridge, since it is relatively free of objective dangers such as ice falls and avalanches. A typical expedition lasts 7 to 8 weeks with climbing permits cost about $ 7500 for five climbers.
Gasherbrum II was first climbed on July 8, 1956 by Fritz Moravec, Josef Larch and Hans Willenpart of an Austrian expedition.

Gasherbrum I (also known as Hidden Peak or K5) is the highest peak on Earth 11, located on the border between Pakistan and China in Azad Kashmir, Pakistan [1]. Gasherbrum I is part of the Gasherbrum massif, located in the Karakoram Himalaya region. Gasherbrum often claimed in the sense of the “Shining Wall”, presumably a reference to the visible face of the summit of Gasherbrum IV neighbors, but in reality it is “rgasha” (beautiful) + “brum” (mountain) in Balti , so it actually means “beautiful mountain”.
Gasherbrum I was designated K5 (ie, 5 peak of the Karakoram) by TG Montgomery in 1856 when he first saw the peaks of the Karakoram from more than 200 km away during the trigonometric survey of India. In 1892, William Martin Conway provided the alternate name, Hidden Peak, in reference to its location.
Gasherbrum I was first climbed on July 5, 1958 by Pete Schoening and Andy Kauffman of an eight-man American expedition led by Nicholas B. Clinch. Richard K. Irvin, Tom Nevison, Tom McCormack, Bob Swift and Gil Roberts were also members of the team

Including all tax glacier, Siachen glacier system covers about 700 km2 (270 square miles).
The Siachen glacier, has world’s highest helipad, built by India. The highest battlefield in the world is also on the glacier at an altitude of 21,000 feet (6400 m) above sea level. [6] The GSM mobile phone service was launched in 2009 near the Army base camp [7].

Broad Peak (originally named K3), known locally as Faichan Kangri, is the 12th highest mountain on Earth. The literal translation of “Broad Peak” to Phalchan Kangri is not accepted among the Balti people.

Geography

Broad Peak is part of the Gasherbrum massif on the border of Pakistan-China. It is located about 8 kilometres (5 miles) from K2. Broad Peak was originally named K3 right after the naming of K2 but on closer inspection by a later party, it was discovered that the summit was over 1½ kilometres (1 mile) long, thus “Broad Peak”.

Climbing history

The first ascent of Broad Peak was made on June 9, 1957 by Fritz Wintersteller, Marcus Schmuck, Kurt Diemberger, and Hermann Buhl of an Austrian expedition led by Marcus Schmuck. A first attempt by the team was made on May 29 where Fritz Wintersteller and Kurt Diemberger reached the forepeak (8,030m). This was also accomplished without the aid of supplemental oxygen or high altitude porters and without base camp support.[1]
On the same expedition, Marcus Schmuck and Fritz Wintersteller made a flash first ascent of Skil Brum peak (7,360m) on June 19, 1957 in pure Alpine style in 53 hours.[1]
Hermann Buhl fell to his death when he and Diemberger attempted to climb nearby Chogolisa peak (7,654m) on June 27, 1957.[1]
In July 2007 an Austrian mountaineering team climbed Broad Peak for retrieving the corpse of Markus Kronthaler, who had died on the mountain one year before, from over 8,000 metres.[citation needed]
Simone Moro has been on two winter expeditions to Broad Peak. None of the five 8000 meter peaks in Pakistan have been climbed in the winter.
In the winter and summer of 2009 there were no summits. There was one winter expedition by a Polish-Canadian team. In the summer there was one fatality, Cristina Castagna.

Tent pegging, widely accepted to have originated in India through the British Cavalry, is popular today throughout Asia and in England, Australia and South Africa. The specific game of tent pegging has a mounted horseman riding at a gallop and using a sword or a lance to pierce, pick up, and carry away a small ground target (a symbolic tent peg) or a series of small ground targets. In Pakistan the game has a popular following in Punjab where riders wear colourful turbans and outfits and showcase their skills amid the sound of traditional music. Although it has become difficult for many renowned tent-peggers to keep horses on their crumbling resources, sponsorship from private and public corners is helpful. -Photo by APP from Chiniot, Pakistan

Each one then holds onto the opponent’s waistcloth and tries to throw him to the ground. Only attacks with the hands are allowed. If either contestant stays out of the ring for too long, he is disqualified. The standard method of scoring is accomplished by pinning the opponent’s shoulders to the mat, knockout or otherwise weakening the opponent into submission.
